Dream Escape

Summary

In late 2019 I was able to work with a startup company called Dream Escape, an escape room company building three new rooms in Toronto. The first room is alien themed. I was brought on to help with Design, Construction and implementation of the rooms and some of their puzzles. I can only show these progress images because I would hate to spoil the game, but I worked on power cells, alien tech, bulkheads and lighting for the company. I also helped design their custom arcade machines and build their bar area.

What I Learned

I learned a lot of about different building materials, tools and painting methods for set design. I had little to no experience with lighting, however learned to install LED’s, solder connections for light panels and install pot-lights. I installed laminate, put up drywall, constructed an escape pod and holding cell. On top of all this I learned a bit of prosthetic work and latex moulding with the aliens. This is a unique job and I look forward to when I can return and finish the room.
