The RVERS

Summary

I had the pleasure of working on the third and fourth seasons of The RVERS as a freelance motion graphic artist. The show is a fun and informative look at the life and equipment behind RV travel. The fourth season is airing soon on Discovery Channel, Prime Video and Apple+.

In regard to my work on the project, I was given the rough cut of an episode for season 3 with a marker of where graphics were needed, and given a general direction as to how to proceed to fit the narration. I had a fair amount of creative control with this project and was quite happy with the way each of the videos came out. I was given graphics ranging from absorption refrigeration to water filtration to the geography of New Zealand. The creators of the show brought me on for the next season as a result of my work on the 3rd.

RV Skirting

This pair of graphics were to illustrate that a lot of heat and subsequently money could be lost through the bottom of an RV, however simple skirting can be an easy solution.

Water Filtration

Sine Wave Comparison

Power Inverter

An interesting piece of equipment, I designed this graphic to convey what an inverter could be used for in an RV.

New Zealand

The final graphic I created for the third season was to accompany narration on the geography of New Zealand and the many islands that make up the country.

What I Learned

This project took place during the height of Covid 19, as as a result I was working remotely. I found that as the episodes needed to be edited and sent quickly, It was necessary for me to work fast and keep in constant contact with the client to ensure that the animations I was creating matched their vision and style. I also learned a great deal about RV lifestyle and improved my abilities in after effects considerably as the project went on. I would jump to work on another season of this show.
