Into The Kitchen

Into The Kitchen is an upcoming cooking documentary series where the locales and ingredients are the stars. Taking the stage across the world in culinary hotspots like Sorrento, Cape Town and Singapore. I was brought on to head up motion graphics for the key ingredients and final plates for the entire first season. In one particular episode, I was also tasked with recreating a chef’s journey through a map he had made himself.

The team consisted of around twenty people and I interacted directly with nearly every member of that team through multiple meetings. I was given deadlines for each

 

Motion Graphics

These motion graphics were based on a watercolour painting of each dish or ingredient. There were two of the final dish animations and two of the key ingredient animations per episode. These could range from a type of local fish to a Kelp tube and were a driving part of the narrative for the epsiodes, with each of the chefs responsible elaborate on their choice.

The client wanted key ingredients presented in a way that highlighted the region of origin and showcased the chefs preparing them. For this I had a sample clip that I needed to fit a map, the ingredient, and any type that might be used.

What I Learned

I learned through thus project that with so many moving parts and cross communication, it pays to be prepared. I felt that this was one of my best projects as far as organization of my files is concerned. I layered and Iterated the files in a way that when sudden changes arose, I was able to quickly and efficiently deal with them. By the end of the
